Build a community that learns, shares, and creates together.
The mission of the Buda Public Library is to enrich the community by supporting early literacy and lifelong learning in a welcoming space.
The Buda Public Library has been a beloved pillar of the community since 1980. Its commitment to Buda and responsibilities to its citizens expanded in 2018 with the opening of a new municipal building that houses the library and features community meeting spaces, a makerspace, study rooms, and a story time room.
Over 25,000 square feet of library space was designed to support Buda's rapidly expanding population. As our community continues to grow, our librarians, city administration, and City Council are mindfully adapting the space and its resources, as well as regularly developing 5-year strategic plans to keep the library relevant and functional within the community.
The library conducted a community survey to evaluate the community's current opinions of the Buda Public Library and their hopes for its future. The library also requested the creation of the Library Strategic Planning Committee, with citizens chosen to reflect a range of Buda's community members. They analyzed the community data and survey responses and heard reports on public library trends in order to identify the goals that the Buda Public Library will work towards in the next 5 years. This committee also created a new vision statement and mission statement for the library.
