How a Story Comes Together

Fingerplay: The Key to the City

This is the key to the city.

This is the city.

The city is on a hill.

And on the hill is a street.

And on that street there is a house.

And in that house there is a room.

And in that room there is a bed.

And on that bed there is a basket.

And in that basket there is a kitten.

The kitten in the basket

The basket on the bed

The bed in the room

The room in the house

The house on the street

The street on the hill

The hill in the city

And this is the key to the city.

Rhyme: The Cat and the Fiddle

Hey, diddle, diddle!

The cat and the fiddle,

The cow jumped over the moon

The little dog laughed

To see such sport

And the dish ran away with the spoon.
